Rally Pointe League Rules

All leagues run by the “honor” system. Please call your own net faults and ball touches. Note that any net touch is a violation. Balls entering an adjacent court are dead unless the court is vacant.

Matches should begin by 10 minutes into the scheduled time. A buzzer will sound at the end of each match. Balls entering adjacent (in use) courts are out of bounds and are not to be played for safety reasons.

To be eligible for playoffs, a player must play at least one match during the regular season. It is the winning team’s responsibility to record scores on the score sheet posted upstairs. Every attempt is made to give an even distribution of early and late playing times throughout the course of the league.

Women’s and Co-Ed Hardcourt

Format: In co-ed leagues, there must be a minimum of 2 players of each gender on the court that play the full 6 rotations*. In all leagues, If your team is missing a player (male or female), *you may play with 5 players, losing serve for the 6th player when the `phantom` position comes to position 1. This also means that a team will have 3 rotations with only 2 players in the front row as the phantom position rotates through the front row. Opposing team may waive this rule if they desire.

If using a libero, they must follow the FIVB/VC libero rules.

  • He/she is restricted to perform as a back row player and is not allowed to complete an attack hit from anywhere (including playing court and free zone) if at the moment of contact the ball is entirely higher than the top of the net.
  • He/she may not serve, block or attempt to block.
  • Libero replacements are not counted as substitutions. They are unlimited but there must be a completed rally between two Libero replacements.

Each team plays 2 consecutive matches within a 90 minute period. Co-ed matches are 3 sets, capped at 25, or until time runs out. In Women’s play, each match is played for one hour. Women’s sets have no cap (i.e must win by 2). A buzzer will sound to end the match. If time expires during a rally, finish the rally; then the game is over. If the game is tied, play one more rally to determine the winner of that set. No exceptions. Each set won counts as one point in the standings (2 per set in women’s; 1 in third set). Incomplete games must have at least 5 total points scored for it to count.

Playoffs: Occur the last 1 or 2 league nights. The top 4 teams in the standings play for the “A” championship, the next 4 for the B, etc. Playoff start times will be posted on the website.

Defaults & Forfeits

A default occurs in 6`s when there are less than 4 players 10 minutes into the match start time. NO EXCEPTIONS! (Phoning ahead doesn’t help. Use the spares list and/or the Facebook page adultvolleyballyyc!) Each default results in a $25 gift card given to each of the teams you would have played. The gift card must be claimed from the staff on the evening the default occurs. The amount owing will be deducted from the $200 deposit with which your captain registered your team. A forfeit occurs in 6’s when a team has only 4 players (Game 1 after 10 minutes; Game 2 after 20 minutes). The team may play their matches, and can pick up players, but they must count as losses. There is no gift card awarded for forfeits.

Age Requirements

All players must be at least 16, with a maximum of 2 players under 18 on the court at one time.

Standings

Will be posted on the Rally Pointe website each week.

WE WELCOME YOUR INPUT AS WE TRY TO MAKE OUR LEAGUES BETTER EACH SESSION.

Default Policy

To ensure a fair and competitive season, an additional $200 charge has been added to the team registration fee. This amount acts as a default deposit, ensuring that all teams fulfill their scheduled matches.

In the event of a default, each opposing team will be awarded a $25 gift card per match ($50 total for two matches in one night). Gift cards must be claimed from Rally Pointe staff on the evening of the default.

Any unused portion of the default deposit will be refunded by cheque at the end of the season. However, if a team defaults more than the deposit covers, they will be responsible for paying the remaining balance before being allowed to register for a new session.

This policy helps maintain the integrity of the league and ensures that all teams have the opportunity to compete fairly. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
